Former fellow of the National Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S-FNRS), Gregory Lewkowicz is a professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the global law program director of the Perelman Centre of the Faculty of Law. He is recurring visiting professor of global law at HEC Paris and Goethe Universität Frankfurt. He teaches the course “Smart Law: Indicators, Algorithms and Big Data” at Science Po Paris School of Law. He teaches also at Paris II Panthéon-Assas in the program “Digital Transformation of Law & Legaltech”.

His research focuses mainly on global and transnational law, on the transformations of the legal professions and on the history of ideas and jurisprudence. He coordinates several research programs on algorithmic law and on the interactions between law and technology. Each year, he convenes the Brussels Global Law Week. He is in charge of the observatory of the Brussels Bar.

He has published several books and papers among which: Responsabilités des entreprises et corégulation (Bruxelles, Bruylant, 2007), Juger les droits de l’homme : Europe et États-Unis face à face (Bruxelles, Bruylant, 2008), Repenser le contrat (Paris, Dalloz, 2009), Les agences de notation financière entre marchés et États (Bruxelles, Larcier, 2013), Les standards constitutionnels mondiaux (Bruxelles, Bruylant, 2018).

Gregory Lewkowicz serves as the executive director of the Global and Transnational Law Society. He is the chairman of the European Incubator of the Brussels Bar Association along with Ms Vinciane Gillet. Since 2006, he has been the secretary of the series “Penser le droit” (Bruylant publishing). He is a member of the board of directors of the European Academy of Legal Theory and of the Brussels Pole for Higher Education.

During his career, Gregory Lewkowicz has taught at Artois University Law School (2007-2008), Université Catholique de Lille (2010-2011), Vienna University (2012-2013), Luzern University (2013-2014) and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín (2009 / 2016). He was also the principal investigator of several research projects among which : “The Global Challenges of International Terrorism and the Rule of Law : Reflections and Discussions on the EU-US Relationship in the Fight Against Terrorism” funded by the Delegation of the European Commission in Washington, “ATLAS: Armed Conflicts, Peacekeeping, Transitional Justice : Law as Solution” funded by the 7th Framework Program of the European Union, “JANUS: Joint Academics for New Understanding of Shifting International Law and Relations” funded by the French Community of Belgium.
