Globalization forces us to rethink justice and the law on a global scale. In the absence of a world state, we must invent new ways to meet the great challenges facing humanity at the dawn of the third millennium: How to ensure effective protection of human rights in the world and respect of the rule of law? How to fight against discrimination and reduce growing inequalities? What status for migrants and how to manage migration flows around the world? What concrete legal solutions to strengthen the fight against global warming? But also how to regain control of global finance and regulate systemic banks? What regime to deal with the over-indebtedness of a large number of developed and developing States? Or how can we guarantee the integrity and regulation of the Internet and communication networks that mediate our economic, cultural and social exchanges?
These are the major ongoing « projects » on which the authors take stock in this book highlighting the innovative and concrete solutions that are being tested, as well as the instruments that measure their effectiveness. All contributions are based on in-depth studies conducted within the Perelman Center, according to the pragmatic method of the Brussels School.
