À la recherche du bien commun

The commons, a concept both political and economic, which we still have trouble drawing outlines, will they lead us to abolish private property or we propose a new way to consider it?

First time of our week devoted to the search for the common good, nothing less … A notion that resonates more than ever in the news after the surprise resignation of Nicolas Hulot, come to awaken our bad environmental conscience. For the first common good, the one that must urgently be protected, is of course our planet and its exhaustible resources, water, land, forests, what some economists call the « commons ». A theory that also includes other material goods as immaterial.

So how can we rethink our relationship to these essential resources? Should we take the path of common management, in reverse of private property? With what implications? And more broadly, what new society is emerging behind these reflections that shake the academic world and beyond? These are the questions that will occupy us in the next hour.

The speakers of this podcast are Benjamin Coriat and Mikhail Xifaras.
