The risks, induced by the practices of the modernity, dominate today the political and legal discourse. It’s object thus focuses on a control of the risks. Risk affects the forms and modalities of governance: both at the international level, which commands, because of environmental risks, in particular, global governance and at the national level, where risk-taking and individualization require the involvement of civil society and the market. Therefore, the risk modifies the perception of the danger by amplifying it and leads to an inflection of the modes of governance. The authors of this book question the theoretical contours of globalization and the modes of governance likely to help to dominate the new configurations introduced by the objective shrinking of the planet. Risk thus occupies an important place in this analysis since it constitutes one of the main justifications for the elaboration of global governance modalities.
